Dear Diary,

__

I decided to start writing to you for so many reasons. My grandmother Diana, and my mother Lita never told me what to expect when I took over the mantle of Wonder Woman. I want this diary to show my own daughter, if the Gods see fit to give me one, what I will experience in my time as Wonder Woman. When it is her turn to take the mantle, I want her to see both my victories and my defeats. All I ever learned about mother and grandmother were the victories I read about in the newspapers. I was protected from knowing all the terrible things they went through at the hands of superpowered criminals and villains. I want my daughter to take on the mantle knowing what to expect.

I should introduce myself to you I guess. My name is Drusilla Jordan, but the world now knows me as Wonder Woman. I am the third one to wear this blessed mantle. The first was my grandmother Diana, Princess of the Amazons. She left Paradise Island long before I was born and did so many things. She fought for America and the Allies during Second World War then did what great-grandma told her and returned home. She came back to this world and did even more things, mostly in America. In 1979 she married my grandfather, Steve Trevor. Like a year later, Wonder Woman disappeared for a year. No one knew that Diana Trevor had a baby. That was my mom, Lita Trevor. Since she was not on the Island, Diana also aged. I still envy her. She is in her seventies now but I have seen pictures of her. She was beautiful, and I'm so jealous of all the people she got to meet, all the greats that my generation look up to as role models.

When Grandma Diana was equal to like forty-five years old and Mom had turned twenty, Diana passed on the mantle of Wonder Woman to my mother Lita. She is a blonde, like me and Grandpa Steve. Two years after becoming Wonder Woman, Mom met Dad. His name is Oliver Jordan, the son of Hal Jordan and Carol Danvers. Those are my grandparents on my father's side, the original Green Lantern and Star Sapphire.

I grew up pretty innocently, just like any other little girl would. I went to public school, became a cheerleader, and I was on the Scholar Bowl team. My parents would never let me play sports which always hurt, at least until I understood why.

It took me a long time to figure out that my mother was also Wonder Woman. No one ever thinks their parents are anything but boring really. I started to figure it out during one of our family reunions. Everyone in our family would rent a set of summer cabins in the heart of the Ozarks every year. All of us kids were allowed to enjoy the woods which was weird at the time because most of us had very cautious parents, but out here miles from nowhere, we had free rein.

Anyway one day when I was nine we were playing hide and seek. We had a boundary set up and I was at the edge when I heard a very low noise that sounded like an engine. I gave up on cousin Sylvia finding me and went towards the noise. I found my old Uncle Clark wearing his usual clothes, but he was talking with Uncle Dick and Aunt Lana. Dick was wearing a Batman costume. The noise was coming from a hovering plane overhead! It was black and shaped like Batman's symbol. The Batwing it was called. Aunt Lana was wearing a female version of a Superman costume and she had her hair down and those ugly glasses off.

I was floored, especially when Uncle Dick pulled the cowl over his face, grabbed the rope, and was pulled up into the Batwing. A few minutes later, Aunt Lana flew into the air on her own!

I probably gasped because Uncle Clark looked my way. I hid behind the tree but since I know now that my old, geeky Uncle Clark was the first Superman, I am sure he saw me through the tree.

When I asked Mom about it, she said they were having a costume party. I asked her what she was wearing and she had me wait while she went in the bedroom. She came back out fifteen minutes later in a Wonder Woman costume, but no lasso or tiara. She still had her hair in a ponytail and her glasses on. But wow! I never knew my Mom had a figure like that!

I was always suspicious about the way Mom would disappear for days, even though Dad told me and my brother that she had to travel on business. We rarely could talk to her while she was away.

All of my parents' secrets came crashing down one night when I was sixteen. Our home on Chesapeake Bay was invaded by a group of armed mercenaries. The first sound I heard was the door being bashed open. Even though I never had figured out my Mother's secret life, I was still pretty sharp. When I heard men yelling, I got up and made my bed. Next I crawled under it.

I was not afraid, but shaking from shock when my door burst open. I only saw the weird, oversized red boots that walked into my room, paused, then walked out.

There was more yelling downstairs then I heard gunfire. Next came ricochets, then more yelling that I could not make out.

I heard my father's voice, then everything was quiet. That's when I became afraid. I do not know how long passed before I crawled out from under my bed. My door was open. The hallway was empty so I went down the hallway and peeked down the stairs.

My father was being held by two men in weird army uniforms. The uniforms were like you would find on a soldier, but they were all kinds of weird colors, polka dots, and ugly stripes. All of them had oversized red boots and round, red rubber noses. They had guns pointed at my father who had his eyes closed and his teeth clenched.

My mother was wearing that same Wonder Woman costume but her hair was down and the tiara was on her forehead. She also had a glowing golden rope but it was tied around her waist, with the head clown-costumed goon holding one end of it. At that moment, I realized what all the business trips meant, what that thing in the woods was about, I figured it all out in a second. My Mother was Wonder Woman, and my Grandmother was also Wonder Woman before her!!

Swaying and dizzy from that sudden realization, it did not sink in that her star-spangled panties were down around her ankles. I watched my Mother get on her hands and knees when the clown ordered her to do so. Two more of the men dropped their pants and kneeled down behind and in front of my mother, Wonder Woman.

With all the guns and my captive Father their prisoner, I could only watch the clown-soldiers gangrape my mother. I was more shocked that after they took turns with her, she seemed to enjoy it.

The head clown seemed like the type to kill my parents and I could not let that happen. I had sneaked out of my room more than once by just jumping out of my second floor window to the ground below. I had not broken anything because I figured I was athletic, but now I knew I was an Amazon.

I quietly went to my bedroom window, opened it, and jumped out. The lead clown had been by the front door which was busted open wide. I circled around the house in bare feet. I crawled under the windows then stood up next to the open door. The leader was cackling like he was totally insane while I heard my Mother squealing under the raping men.

Moving with a speed I never really knew I had, I ran behind the lead clown and wrapped one arm around his throat and another across his head. I told him to let go of the rope or I would break his neck. In shock and very angry, I really would have broken his neck.

With their leader's head bent to the side, the men one at a time dropped their guns. For an insurance agent, my father seemed to know how to handle the guns too. It all ended very quickly.

When she had recovered some, my Mom ordered all the men and their leader, The Joker, to forget all about our home, family, and everything that had happened that night.

They did not want to do it, but I insisted that they tell me all those secrets. They told me some that night, and everything else the next night. It was explained to me that most everyone at those family reunions was not related to me. Either they or someone in their family had been superheroes. All of them. Old Uncle Bruce had been a superhero, so had even older Uncle Steve who always had a flag flying, even outside his camper in the woods. I even learned that my favorite older cousin, Dinah, was one. That great green class ring she always wore turned her into Green Lantern.

It took a while to sink in but I dealt with it. Mother explained that, if I wanted, I could take her mantle when she retired.

I had three choices. I could rebel like my brother ended up doing. I could skip all the superhero stuff and be a normal girl. Or I could train myself to follow in my family's footsteps. I had great examples. All my grandparents, my parents, all of them had a deep sense of justice. I could never turn my back on that.

Besides the dark side of me thought it would be a heck of a lot of fun.

Since then I trained my body and mind to one day take over for my Mom. I learned about the law and studied some history. I lived on Paradise Island for a year after high school where I lived with my great-grandmother the Queen. I took the Amazon trials and earned my own set of bracelets.

Mother was in her mid-forties. I had trained with her since the revelation of my family and I could tell she was slowing down and I was getting faster and better. The time had come. She gave me the golden lasso and her tiara. I learned how to use Amazon magic to transform into my costume in a flash of light.

It was a rush the first time I did that and appeared in my costume. I looked in the mirror and saw Wonder Woman. It was a spiritual and sexual rush.

I have been Wonder Woman now for about six months. I did not think of keeping a diary really. I still do not know if I will have children to pass my mantle to but after just half a year of living as Wonder Woman, I can see that this diary will explain many things. Already I have learned and experienced things my Mother never told me would happen. I wish she had.

It is late. I need to get some sleep after what happened this evening. I will write tomorrow to tell you, right now it is still too fresh and painful.

I hope I do not give up writing to you diary. If I live for twenty years, I will have a lot of stories to tell.

Love, Dru
